The Taungurung Land and Waters Council and wawa biik are proud to announce the Mountains to Rivers Festival 2026, which will be held at Tahbilk Winery on Saturday 7 November (10am-4pm). This event is an opportunity for all people to celebrate Taungurung Country, culture and community together.

The theme of the family-focused inaugural festival is Biik Nganyin Datbu – Caring for our Country.

Whether discovering Taungurung culture for the first time or returning to Country with a deep understanding, the Mountains to Rivers Festival welcomes everyone to listen, learn and reflect on how we can all care for beautiful Country together while enjoying the following activities:

• Live First Nations music and performances, headlined by Kutcha Edwards and Candice Lorrae

• Cultural workshops and demonstrations

• Storytelling and yarning with Taungurung Elders

• Guided cultural cruises

• Wetlands walks and talks

• Bush food tasting platters and food trucks

• Taungurung makers’ market

• Family-friendly nature play

The National Walk for Truth is a powerful journey from Victorian Parliament House to Parliament House, led by Travis Lovett, calling for a national truth-telling process shaped in genuine partnership with First Nations People. As part of this significant journey, the walk will travel through Taungurung Country from 21–28 April, offering a meaningful opportunity for local communities to take part.
Participants are invited to join sections of the walk in and around Seymour and Nagambie, walking together in solidarity, reflection and respect. This stretch of the journey is a chance to honour the strength, resilience and living culture of First Nations People while contributing to a broader national movement for truth, healing and change, culminating during National Reconciliation Week.
