The Euroa Arboretum 'The Arb', is a special 27 hectare pocket of Country, nurtured by a passionate team committed to the restoration of our native woodlands. Boasting wetlands, various woodland environments, large River Red Gums and native grasses, it is a haven for seasonal birdlife, frogs, native bush foods and a colourful array of wildflowers . The Arb's impact extends well beyond its boundaries however as it is home to the Goulburn Broken Indigenous Seedbank. plant nursery, education programs, bush kinder and community events, which contributes to healthy habitats and communities right across Taungurung Country. The Arb also works directly with Biik Environmental, Taungurung Rangers and Taungurung community members to share knowledge of Country and celebrate Taungurung cultural practices. You'll likely meet Cath Olive and the team during our wawa Euroa experience, where you can learn first-hand about the inspiring work that they do.

Tahbilk is a carbon neutral winery in the wetlands of Nagambie on Taungurung Country. For thousands of generations, Tahbilk has been known by Taungurung as tabilk tabilk - a special place of many waterholes. In addition to a cellar door and restaurant, Tahbilk includes a selection of walking eco-trails that wind through biodiverse wetlands with over 105 bird species and unique aquatic life including catfish, waterlilies, platypus and frogs. In 2021, Tahbilk launched an Indigenous Flora Trail, developed in collaboration with Taungurung Elders and the Purbrick Family. This walk shares the stories and histories of Taungurung People and is featured on our wawa Nagambie and wawa tabilk tabilk experiences. wawa biik guests can extend their Tahbilk experience with a wine tasting or lunch at the Wetlands View Restaurant that overlooks the backwaters of the Tahbilk billabong

Cultural heritage – “It’s still here and so are we” – a yarn with Jonah

Jonah Honeysett is a proud Taungurung /Wiradjuri man of the Nira-balluk clan who considers himself lucky to have grown up knowing about his culture, immersed in his culture, and learning about his culture from his Aboriginal parents and grandparents.

“It’s not Aboriginal heritage, it’s Australia’s Heritage” – a yarn with Ashley.

Ashley Wilkinson is a proud Taungurung man of the Yeerum-Illiam-Balluk clan, which is below Benalla and Mansfield area.

Cultural Heritage – an Elder’s perspective (Uncle Shane)

As a Taungurung Elder who has worked for his mob for two decades doing cultural surveys, Uncle Shane could probably write a book about what he’s seen and experienced out there in the field.   Protecting cultural heritage is core to the work of any Custodians of Country and is a responsibility that is directly overseen by Elders.
